Clinical Nutrition

Nutrition is a big part of our health and sustaining wellness. Without the ‘right’ ingredients/nutrients, our bodies struggle to function optimally. When I was diagnosed with cervical pre-cancer cells I realized that my ‘eating healthy’ may not have been as healthy as I thought.  It was recommended that I change my diet and lifestyle drastically-no gluten, no dairy, no sugar, no alcohol, no caffeine.  This seemed daunting and impossible at the time as I had 2 small children-what was I going to eat? What was I going to feed them?  I was scared and my very life was on the line so I needed to try something. Through a lot of personal research and the guidance of a team of holistic practitioners, I managed the changes needed and was able to return to full health- I have never felt better in my life, and the cancer cells have not returned.

A thorough one-on-one evaluation and assessment of a person’s diet, nutritional intake and lifestyle ensures understanding of the biochemical individuality of each client. An individualized treatment plan is then established to address the goals of the individual and restore any nutritional imbalances.  Digestive health is also very important for one to feel good.  “You are what you can absorb” (not just what you eat!).  The focus of treatment is to improve and maintain digestive wellness, absorption of nutrients from the foods we eat and elimination of toxins and waste for optimal health. Individualized treatments may include the use of supplements, Special diets, and/or lifestyle modifications or the best outcome. Sometimes labs are needed to determine nutritional deficiencies, heavy metal toxicity or food intolerances/allergies in order to determine the correct course of treatment. Therapeutic interventions to help with detoxification may also be used to attain optimal health.
